Two concepts to increase the agricultural productivity in the humid tropics – the “Yurimaguas Technology” and the „Ecofarming„ –model. Attempt of a comparison

Abstract

Two rather different systems for increasing the agricultural productivity in the humid tropics are presented and evaluated: the "Yurimaguas technology", developed in the Peruvian Part of the Amazon basin, as example for a high-external-input model, and the "Ecofarming" system, propagated by Egger, Heidelberg (FRG), a typical ecology-oriented low-external-input farming System. The most important elements of both Systems, i.e. the high land productivity of the first and the sparing use of energy and non-renewable resources by the other, are joined in a so called "two-phases-model".

Zwei Konzepte zur Steigerung der Landwirtschaftlichen Produktivität in den humiden Tropen – die „Yurimaguas Technologie“ und das „Ecofarming „ –Modell. Versuch eines Vergleichs

Zwei sehr unterschiedliche Modelle zur Erhöhung der landwirtschaftlichen Produktivität in den humiden Tropen werden vorgestellt und bewertet: die im peruanischen Amazonasgebiet entwickelte „Yurimaguas-Technologie" als Beispiel für ein „high external input-Modell und das von Egger, Heidelberg, entwickelte Ecofarming-System, typisch für ökologisch ausgerichtete „low external input“ Systeme. Die wichtigsten Elemente der beiden Modelle, die hohe Flächenproduktivität des einen und die sparsame Verwendung von Energie und nicht erneuerbaren Ressourcen des anderen Modells, werden in einem Modell zusammengeführt, das als Zwei-Phasen-Modell bezeichnet und erläutert wird.
