Futterproduktion nicht nur für die landwirtschaftlichen Nutztiere, sondern auch zur Steigerung der Bodenfruchtbarkeit

Obwohl ein Viertel der Landoberfläche der Erde permanentes Weideland ist und 60% davon in Entwicklungsländern liegen, sollte auch dort dem Futterbau mehr Bedeutung zukommen. Überbestockte Weiden haben in vielen Ländern zu großen Erosionsproblemen geführt und der Desertifikation in Trockengebieten Vorschub geleistet. Der Futterbau erlaubt nicht nur eine intensiviere Viehhaltung, sondern steigert bei richtiger Durchführung und Artenwahl die Bodenfruchtbarkeit nachhaltig. Eine bessere Versorgung der Bevölkerung mit Protein wird durch eine Steigerung der tierischen Produktion ebenfalls erreicht.

Summary
In spite of the fact, that 25% of the earth land area is permanent grassland, and about 60% of the pasture land located in developing countries, fodder production should become more important in the Tropics. Overgrazed pastures contribute to soil erosion and possibly accelerate desertification in the semi-arid tropics, therefore increased fodder production allows not only increased animal production but also increased soil productivity. The population will be better supplied with protein by increasing animal production.
